Tips on solving problems in Electricity and Magnetism

This site has some great tips on solving problems in Electricity and Magnetism:

Check it out.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

There are a lot of summer enrichment programs out there for high school students. Here is a list. Make sure you check costs, financial aid, and what age/grade is accepted.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)

(this is where I went for my engineering degree)

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
Preface Program (engineering/tech): http://doso.rpi.edu/update.do?catcenterkey=87

University of Connecticut (UCONN)
BRIDGE program (for students interested in engineering) - http://www.engr.uconn.edu/bridgepreparestudents.php

Check these out - see if there is something that you are interested in. These programs can help you prepare for college.

Uploaded Resources

I just uploaded some new study guides (topic review, examples, and problems, with solutions) for electric fields and forces, DC circuits, and magnetic fields and forces.

There are some others on the site also. These are great for review before a test and for the AP Exam.

Monday, March 8th 2010 Assignment

Today, you will be exploring a new topic, Electrostatics (electric fields and electric charges).

Go to http://www.lpscience.fatcow.com/mgagnon/electrostatics.html and hit play and then push the right arrow key and go through the whole lesson/demo's.

and go to #18 and then click on "Simulations" and run through the simulation.

If you still have time, go through the following lesson: (if you run out of time, do this on your own at home or you can come into my room during your free period today or tomorrow).

On Thursday, we will go through the lecture materials for Chp 16 (quickly) as an overview and review and then we will do the problems.

Here is a good site for self study or review on this topic: http://www.learnapphysics.com/apphysicsb/electrostatics.php

Class update

You should have the homework done (Chapter 15, #51, 53, 55) for tomorrow (Tuesday, March 2nd) (especially since it was due Friday). We will go over the homework and then you will have some online labs to do.

On Thursday, March 4th, you will have an open note quiz on Chapters 13-15. Make sure you review the chapters, your notes, and the homework.

I would start the review Tuesday night so you can find me Wednesday and ask questions.
