Update for Wednesday, 12/23/09

Hi gang! I have bronchitis and will not be in school on Wednesday, 12/23/09. So, that means that you have some more time to finish your Chapter 8 homework.

You should also be reviewing Chapters 1-8 and going through the review packets I gave you. You need to spend some time reviewing and practicing over the break. We will be going through the next few chapters very quickly. Reading Chapter 9 over the break would also be a good idea.

Please make sure your classmates read this if you talk to any of them over the break.

Happy Holidays and we'll see you in 2010!

Schedule Update 12-22-09

We finished the Chp 8 (Rotational Momentum) and the homework is Chp 8, Problems # 7, 15, 23, 31, 43, 51.

Make sure you have the homework done. We will go over it next class.

Schedule Update

Great job on the Momentum Lab today!!

Remember the lab write up and the homework are due Monday. We will do Chp 8 on Monday (Rotational Momentum) and finish it next week.

Your homework for the break will be to review the practice and review packets you were given last class.

Work, Power, Energy Resources

Here are some resources to help you with Work, Power, and Energy (Chp 6 in your textbook):

1. http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Class/energy/ - Great web site for physics. Explains the concepts in easy to understand terms.

3. http://www.learnapphysics.com/apphysicsb/work_and_energy.php - practice problems (with solutions), and links to video lessons.

Good luck!

Don't forget that your practice kinematics test is due on Monday and you will have your open book quiz on Chp 6 Monday also.

AP Physics Multimedia Investigation Work, Power, Energy

You will be using the internet and simulation software to investigate applications of work, power, and energy. This will give you a better understanding of these topics.

  1. go to http://www.curriki.org/nroc/Introductory_Physics_1/index.html and go to each of the following links:
    1. Chapter 3: Work, Energy, and Power

i. Lesson 7: Work and Work-Energy Theorem

ii. Lesson 8: Conservative Forces and Potential Energy

iii. Lesson 9: Conservation of Energy

iv. Lesson 10: Power

  1. When you are done watching the videos, go to the Novell Screen and open Interactive Journey Through Physics and follow the instructions below.

Do not do MCAT Problems.

You will hand in a one page (typed - two pages if hand written) summary of what you have learned. Do NOT just copy the lesson summary!

Great website for review

Learn AP Physics is a great web site for AP Physics students. The site has example problems, topic reviews, problem solving tips, and much more. Students can also sign up to receive a practice problem emailed to them every day and solutions are provided.

This site is a "must-use" for AP Physics students. Remember - your class is AP Physics B.
