AP Physics Multimedia Investigation Work, Power, Energy

You will be using the internet and simulation software to investigate applications of work, power, and energy. This will give you a better understanding of these topics.

  1. go to http://www.curriki.org/nroc/Introductory_Physics_1/index.html and go to each of the following links:
    1. Chapter 3: Work, Energy, and Power

i. Lesson 7: Work and Work-Energy Theorem

ii. Lesson 8: Conservative Forces and Potential Energy

iii. Lesson 9: Conservation of Energy

iv. Lesson 10: Power

  1. When you are done watching the videos, go to the Novell Screen and open Interactive Journey Through Physics and follow the instructions below.

Do not do MCAT Problems.

You will hand in a one page (typed - two pages if hand written) summary of what you have learned. Do NOT just copy the lesson summary!

Great website for review

Learn AP Physics is a great web site for AP Physics students. The site has example problems, topic reviews, problem solving tips, and much more. Students can also sign up to receive a practice problem emailed to them every day and solutions are provided.

This site is a "must-use" for AP Physics students. Remember - your class is AP Physics B.

Schedule Update 11-25-09

Today we went over the Chapter 6 homework and started a multimedia investigation into Work, Power, and Energy (see below). We will complete that on Tuesday, 12-01-09.

SparkNotes for Physics

SparkNotes is a great site for students to use. It is like CliffNotes, but most of it is free.

This is the page that has Physics information and study guides on it. It's a good resource to use when you need help with a physics topic.

Tuesday, November 17th

Today, since half the class is out at activities, we are going to do things backwards.

(Students who are absent should do #1 on their own at home or during study hall)

1. go to this site and read each section about Work, Power and Energy.

2. go to Multimedia Science School (in the Novell Screen) and do the lesson on Energy.

Monday, November 9th 2009

Today you will be doing a hands on lab on Circular Motion and Centripetal Forces.

The lab sheet can be found HERE if you lose yours.

You also have homework tonight: Chapter 5, Problems 3, 11, 15, 33, 37, 51. These are due on Friday, November 13th, which is the next time we meet due to the Veteran's Day holiday.

Also, you will have a QUIZ on Chapter 5 on Friday, November 13th. Make sure you study.

I will be available for help Tuesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon, and via email.
